About James

James I. Armes

James is a part-time Freelance Web Applications Developer and full-time developer for Carlisle, PA based WorkXpress. He has two open source PHP libraries making use of UPS and Microsoft Exchange web services easier for the average developer. He is also a contributor for the Drupal CMS and is known as BassistJimmyJam on drupal.org.

During High School, James studied Computer Information Systems at the Center for Arts and Technology, Brandywine Campus (CAT). He sites his CIS teacher, Mr. Fuchs, for giving him the motivation he needed to continue his education and do what he loves. After graduating form Avon Grove High School in 2003 and receiving a certificate with platinum seal from CAT, he continued his education at Central Pennsylvania College in Summerdale, PA. Upon graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology in 2007, James started working as a full-time Web Applications Developer at WorkXpress, then known as Express Dynamics, LLC.

After working as a full-time PHP developer for nearly three years, James decided that freelancing would be an excellent way to put his experience to work for him. After plenty of research and discussing the decision with his wife Stephanie, it was time to put his plan into action. With hopes of earning some extra income for savings and to pay off current loans, James started freelancing in late 2009.

James' specialties include Drupal programming and web services. He has experience consuming many web services including Amazon Web Services (AWS), FedEx, Microsoft Exchange 2007, Drupal, WorkXpress, and UPS OnLine Tools web services. He has also written services including a measurement converter, language translator, and an FTP administration service. SOAP and REST are his preferred web service implementations. He continues to read about web services and Drupal, among other topics, to keep up with the latest technologies.
